Term 2

Room 7 have had a busy first week back at school after the holidays.

Some of the things we have learnt about this week have included: how to roller-skate and play hockey, some new gymnastics moves, we have begun persuasive writing and been introduced to the new topic of Maori cultures and our own.

In week 2 it is our turn to host Assembly. We are really looking forward to doing this and would love as many parents/caregivers to come along to support us as possible.

Football

We have had a fabulous week of learning new football skills. We played stuck in the mud with footballs and the mud monsters tried to stop our football. See if you can spot who they are.

Tennis

We have now had two tennis lessons with our instructor Leonie. We are learning how to have a rally with a partner and make sure the ball gets over the net. We have also learnt about how to hold the tennis racquet properly.

Super Brainy Beans

Here is a very cool website called Super Brainy Beans that Mrs M showed us that has great links to Literacy and Maths. Check it out!

Our new desks arrive!

Last week our new desks arrived! Boy, were we excited. They look great and our new chairs are super-comfy too. With not as much room store our things we will have to keep our desks extra tidy.

Our Class Treaty

As a class we brainstormed some ideas and then together came up with a set of rights and responsibilities that our class would follow.  Here is our class treaty that we have all signed.  Please check out your child's eportfolio to see their personal reflection on the process we went through. Some will be published tomorrow.

Homework Week 6

Room 7's Writing

This week Room 7 have been writing stories from personal experience. The stories are about a moment in time when they have hurt themselves. We have been learning to hook our readers in with a great story beginning and to add some adjectives to our writing.  These will be finished next week, but feel free to pop in and have a read of your child's 1st draft. What a lot of budding writers we have in Room 7. I can't wait to read them all when they are finished. Keep up the great work Room 7.

Aqua Aerobics

Last week was soooooooo hot at Normandale School. Room 7 was lucky enough to have a session in the pool in the afternoon. Check out our cool moves to 'The Witch Doctor'.

Kapahaka

The senior syndicate are really enjoying the Kapahaka sessions on a Tuesday afternoon.

What a busy second week!

We have been super busy in Room 7 this week. Our clip chart is well underway.  Two amazing children just about reached the top of the chart! Way to go!

We are also enjoying our very comfy couch that was kindly donated by Molly's family. Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is now a well loved treasure in Room 7. (Photo to come.)  

The senior syndicate had their first Kapahaka experience this week which was awesome. The pool has been quite refreshing as we continue our swimming programme.

It was lovely to meet and chat to lots of parents at the meet the teacher evening on Tuesday. Please feel free to pop in and see us when you can.  

Lets hope that next weeks weather starts better than this week. Roll on summer!

The first week

What an action packed week it has been in Room 7 getting to know each other. This is us sitting outside after a fun fitness session called Ant hospital. We have enjoyed swimming in the pool and have a cosy new couch to sit on in our class.

Mrs H's first blog
